It's Movie Night

Fun Stuff...

It's Movie Night!

During the fall of 2006, we made an upgrade to our home theater. We replaced the rear-projection Mitsubishi TV with a Panasonic projector. We did the entire project ourselves -- and with a pretty small budget. Granted, we had a decent sound system, receiver and related equipment, so the main thing we did was replace the video and make a screen, etc.

We made our own screen, which is 125 inches diagonal, by using Goo Systems paint, a specialized acrylic paint designed specifically for theater screens. The 3-inch black border was made by buying molding from Lowes and spray painting it black. Lynette made new curtains in the media room with the black-out lining. Also, as you can see in the photos below, she made curtains around the screen too.

Let me know if you want to know more about how we did this. The entire project was completed for around $3000 -- a modest amount for a gigantic improvement in both video size and quality. Below are a few photos to give you an idea of what it looks like!
